An Evening in Bloom is a relaxed summer gathering designed to be shared. As the evening light softens, we’ll move through the garden, gathering botanicals to create a naturally dyed silk pillowcase. It’s a chance to slow down, make something lasting, and experience color as it’s grown, gathered, and transformed.

What We'll Do:

  • We’ll begin with a guided tour of the dye garden as we discuss how plants can be used for textile dyeing and what you might want to add to your own garden.

  • Gather fresh botanicals from the garden to dye your own items.

  • Design and dye your own silk pillowcase using a variety of techniques to add background color and surface design.

  • Enjoy a grazing board filled with delightful snacks as the sun begins to set.

All dye materials and one silk pillowcase are included in registration (cotton available if preferred). Additional dyeable items will be available for purchase.

Our facilities include an air-conditioned classroom, bathroom, and abundant outdoor work spaces. Please dress comfortably for both indoor and outdoor climates, as well as an evening of standing, sitting, and brief walking.
