Indigofera tinctoria Watercolor Paint
 
Deep, earthy, and quietly luminous, this indigo watercolor carries the rich blue of a living dye plant into your paint palette. Made from true indigo pigment, this color offers a complex range—from inky midnight washes to soft, atmospheric blue-grays when diluted with water.
 
Unlike synthetic blues, indigo has a grounded character: slightly smoky, subtly muted, and beautifully responsive to layering. It granulates gently on textured paper, creating depth and movement in skies, shadows, botanicals, and landscapes. 
 
Each pan is carefully mulled by hand to ensure smooth dispersion, rich pigment load, and effortless rewetting. The result is a versatile, lightfast blue that blends seamlessly with earth pigments, warms beautifully with madder and ochre, and creates striking contrasts alongside botanical yellows.
 
Each paint is stored in a handmade ceramic paint stone and nestled in a hand-dyed, hand-sewn cotton bag, colored with the same indigo used to make the paint.
